Reno, NV 2013

Playing golf at casino
Headed to the Casino to have breakfast....wanted to use our points!  We had enough points to get it free!  Yeah!

Harrah's auto museum
We then decided to play the floating golf course here at the casino.  The balls float so it's much harder than you think as they don't go as far and the islands are not grass but wood so they bounce off.   Neither of us made one stick but hit the greens many times.   It was a lot of fun and we'd do it again.

Then we headed for the Harrah's auto museum....what a spectacular display of autos.  Loved reading who used to own them and what movies some of them had been in.   Some of the prior owner: Sammy Davis, Jr; Elvis, Frank Sinatra, Al Jolson, John Wayne, just to name a few.   Some of the movies: Tucker & Titanic.
My favorite at the museum

The National Bowling Stadium was one of the things I wanted to see.....it's amazing.   The 78 championship lanes beckon competitors to try their luck. The National Bowling Stadium boasts the longest video screen in the world which is capable of projecting video images as well as state-of-the-art scoring graphics across its 440 foot length.  We were hoping to see Sarah bowl but because of her knee surgery, decided not to attend.

We then did a little geocashing before we headed to Walmart.  Need celery to finish the chicken noodle soup I'm making for dinner.   Nights are cool and soup sounds great!

Tomorrow we head to Likely, CA....we'll play golf there for 2-3 days before we head to Oregon.

Museum at Carson City Capitol
Decided to take a drive and head to Carson City....we love capitol buildings, so we'll take a tour.   It's probably the least exciting of all we've seen so far.   They have two floors you can tour (self-guided) but honestly, it only took us 30 minutes to see everything we could.   Next we went to the Legislative building, here you can tour 3 floors and look at the art work, etc.   We got to meet Senator Spearman, she's very nice.  They were in session but we elected not to wait and see a session.
Suicide Table at Delta Hotel

Next we took a tour of the Supreme Court bldg....again, not much to see.   We then headed to the Old Mint Building....it's now a museum.   Saw some old Victorian homes in the area....they were very interesting.

Our next stop was Virginia City....like Reno, it's been a very long time since we've been here.   Guess what, it still looks the same!   If you ever get here, don't bring the motorhome....15% grade to get to the city.  Once we got there, walked down one side of the street, had a cinnamon roll for lunch at the bakery and then walked back the otherside.   Got to see the infamous Suicide Table at the Delta Hotel.

Bar in Virgina City
The drive back into Reno is beautiful.   Very windy road but views are lovely.

We then went to Costco to get some batteries....take to many pictures!  Now we are at the coach, not sure were we'll go to dinner to celebrate our 29th anniversary....will let you know.

Left Fallon around 9:00 and arrived at the Grand Sierra Resort RV park around 10:30.   This park is next to the resort and it's approx 2 miles from downtown.   Very nice facility, we'll spend the next 3 nights here.

Once we got checked in, decided to head to Scheels, a sporting goods store where we'll look for 22 shells for Bobby's new toy.   Got there and bought what we could.  You are limited to 4 boxes per person per day.

We then head to downtown to take a look around...it's been over 30 years since we were last here.  It's grown a lot!  Decided we'd go back to the coach and then tour downtown either tomorrow or Saturday.

Once we arrived back at the coach, I wanted to go inside the casino....it's huge!   Took a look around, it's not as big as a Vegas hotel, but for Reno, it's huge.   The have a small mall on the bottom floor, looked around, nothing exciting caught my eye.

They have a six floating greens for us golfers, decided to take a peak.   Looks very challenging, it's windy, so we'll play tomorrow or Saturday.

Went to the coach were I fixed dinner.
