Likely, CA 2013

May 22, 2013
Near Klamath Falls, OR

Got up and the water hose was frozen....29 degrees....burr.  Had breakfast and then we started to leave the park but our jack system would not stop beeping and flashing.  Called Eric our repair guy in Oregon and he explained the problem, we need a new brake switch.  He explained how to dismantle so we would not have to listen to that obnoxious sound.   We told him we'd drive all day and get to him this afternoon, we left at 9:00 AM
East of Willamette Pass

On the drive to K Falls, we saw these frozen sprinklers.   They were so beautiful.   Yes, we are freezing!

Stopped in K Falls for lunch and then continued on.   When we got to Chemult, there was snow in the air, I wanted to stop but Bobby wanted to continue, so we did!   As we got closer to the pass, the more snow there was in the air but nothing was sticking....thank goodness.   It was beautiful I must say!   Once we finnally got over the pass, we had straight rain.   Just before Eugene, it stopped but since arriving, we've had rain of and on.  Think it will rain most of the week.

Willamette Pass, Oregon
We arrived at Elite RV Repair (462 N 3rd, Harrisburg, OR) around 4:00 PM.   Talked with Eric and they'll start on the coach tomorrow.   Hopefully they'll be able to get everything done tomorrow so we won't have to come back on Tuesday.....it's memorial day weekend and they'll be closed.

Drove into Eugene (15 miles away) and went to Walmart....want a new blue-ray player.  Did not find exactly want we want, will look at Best Buy and Costco tomorrow.

Bobby took me out to dinner...Olive Garden.  Now we are back at the coach.

Geocashing
Weather is changing so we decided to catch up on chores.   I cleaned the coach while Bobby tackled the inside of the truck.

Once we finished, I went to the laundry, which took over 2 hrs.

Once laundry was accomplished, we decided to do a little geocashing.   First one was near the park, second was in town and third one about 8 miles east of the park.  This one takes you close to Mill Creek Falls, so we decide to adventure to the falls.   It's about 1/2 mile hike, but well worth the trek.   The drive takes you out into farmland and it was so green and beautiful.   The baby sheep were so cute!  Could resist taking a pic.
Old farm on way to the falls

Mill Falls Creek
Came home and will batten down, as high winds are suppose to come along with rain.  Yuck!

Tomorrow we'll head to Klamath Falls....will probably spend night at Collier State Park.

 May 20, 2013

Started the day with Bobby washing the truck....boy did it need a bath.   It was mighty cold, he said it was covered with ice.  It's going to get colder as the week goes on, in fact they are forecasting snow in the high mountains Wednesday night.  Rain coming everywhere else....good thing he only washed the truck!

Ground squirrels are everywhere in the park.  They are so cute!   This one we saw as we were leaving the park.

We then headed to Alturas, you drive thru the Modoc Wildlife Refuge.  We saw pelicans, antelopes, coyotes and lots of birds.  The first stop was the tire store where Bobby discussed our batteries.  They have the batteries we need but we're going to call Steve Porter and get his thoughts before we commit.   They cost $107 each.

We then toured around town, saw the court house (the are getting ready to update it, should be completed in 2 yrs), the Niles Hotel, Elks Lodge (very old building but no one was around to allow us to tour), Catholic church and the museum.  The museum was filled with local history but does not allow you to take pictures....to bad as they have some unique items.

On the way home we pulled over in the wildlife refuge and I took some pics.

Got to see a real cattle drive, about 1 1/2 miles from the RV park.   We  followed it for about 1/2 mile before they got the herd to their pen.

After lunch we went and played 18 holes.  I played better than yesterday, Bobby did not.  While on the course we saw bunch of these rabbits, they have the biggest ears you've ever seen.

We are now watching the local news.   It's so sad to learn of the destruction that the tornadoes did to Oklahoma today.  We stayed near there last summer when we were in Oklahoma.   Have not seen if the RV park survived.

Very Unique
We left Reno around 8:30, went to Travel America and filled the tank.   This truck and trailer was parked in the lot next to the pumps.   Such a beauty.

Art wok on the golf course
Left the gas station and now are headed for Likely, CA.   It's on hwy 395, about 20 miles south of Alturas, CA.   Believe me, if you blink, you miss this town.   It's amazing that they have such a nice RV park and golf course approx 1 mile outside of this small town.

We arrived at approx noon, got to our spot and the jacks would not come down.   After trouble shooting some problems, realized it was once again the batteries.   Bobby called Coachnet and one of their techs told us to turn on/off the main battery switch.  We did and they started working.   He thinks we either have bad batteries or our inverter is bad.   Tomorrow we'll go into Alturas and see what we can find, otherwise we'll wait till we get to Klamath Falls.
Playing golf

Had lunch and then decided we need a break so we went and played 18 holes.   The shape of the course is nothing to brag about but oh my it's very challeging.  We'll definelty play once or twice more before we leave.  We are staying 3 nights.

View from my walk around the park
Had dinner and then I went for a long walk.   This area reminds me of the Sisters, OR area where we as a family camped when I was much younger.   I was hoping to see a deer, but none so far.   We did see two while drive here, so I know they are around.

More tomorrow
