Eugene, OR 2013

May 27th, 2013

Decided we'd drive to Salem and see if I can get my blood work done.   Got to hospital in Salem and we were informed lab was closed because of the holiday.   I had called last night and they had said YES they'd be open, did not specially ask about the lab....stupid me!

Drove to Junction City so we could go to Fiddlers, the local golf store.   Looked around and I tried the ladies Calloway Fit driver.   Seem to hit it about as far as my current driver, so won't buy a new for now.

We then went to Jerry's hardware store and looked at flooring for the motorhome.   We are trying to decide whether to replace our current carpet with wood flooring or carpet.  Found several samples we liked so we took them home to try in coach.   Only liked one.....now it's a matter of do we want to do it hear or wait until???   Will let you know what we decided when we decide it!

Came back to coach, worked on some stuff and then we went to Taco's with Kat, Steve, Sketer (Kat's brother) at a local bar.   They have 50 cent tacos.....very good.

We'll leave for Portland tomorrow.

At Breakfast in Eugene
Had breakfast at the Old Pancake restaurant with Steve & Kat, then Steve drove us around and showed us wear Kat used to live with her first husband and where is brother lived.

Came home and Bobby watched TV while Kat & I went looking for some netting for her garden.  Came back around noon, and I worked on the computer while Bobby slept.

We then cleaned out the hot water heater, filled coach with fresh water and then went to visit with Kat & Steve.   At 4:00 we came home and made the potatoes to cook on the BBQ, Kat is cooking a pork loin.

After dinner, Kat and I went for approx a 2 mile walk....felt great!   Now I'm once again working on the computer and Bobby is watching TV.   The weather has been great....had a few showers but it's nice.   Have on shorts and sweatshirt and it's cool but not bad for being 7:51 PM.   Love that the days are getting longer and longer.

Not sure of our plans tomorrow.  Might go to Salem, who knows at this point!

Bobby left at 8:00 AM to take motorhome to Les Schwab to get 6 new tires.   Him and Steve spent the remainder of the morning running around.

Kat & I went to Saturday market and a few other stores, before we arrived back home around noon.

Les Schwab called and coach was ready around 12:30, went and got it.  We should be good for another 7 years now.

We decided to go see our Goddaughter Stacey and her family, since they live here in Eugene.   Had a great visit with them, loved playing with the kids, it's amazing the twins (Loran & Emily) are already 5 and Dylan is 9.

Left their place and did a little shopping before we came home.   Had a drink with Steve & Kat, then we went to coach where I cooked dinner.

Arrived at Steve & Kat's around 10:00 AM....go all set up and were settling in when Steve noticed that our front left tire had two holes in it.  Apparently we'd gotten lucky and had not had a blow out!  Off to check on tires we went.  Steve had suggested Les Schwab and the FMCA advantage program.   After talking to several companies in Eugene, we decided to go with Les Schwab.   Made an appt for tomorrow at 8:30.

Steve & Kat wanted to take us out to prime rib dinner at a local place called Wetlands.   Kat and I shared a dinner but the boys each had their own dinner.  Other than the meat was just warm, it was excellent.

Came home and settled in for the evening.

Had to go to Monaco's parts store and pick up a part for the repair guys.  Took it back and talked to them about the repairs.   We hope they'd get to our coach as they are putting in a wood floor in another coach.

Decided to drive into Eugene and run a few errands.   First stop, Verizon store where we both bought new phones.   Bobby chose the I-phone 5 and I got the Samsung Galaxy 4....it just hit the store today.   Then we head to Costco to look at a new surround system for the coach.   We also checked Best Buy and Video Only.   We'll keep looking for now.

Our last stop was Oregon Leather, Bobby wants to create a case for his new rifle.   We could not decide on the thickness nor color, so we'll think about this too!

Came back to the coach around 2:30, they had not started on the coach.  Just when we were getting settled in, they came and told us they wanted to move coach inside bldg to start to the work.   45 min. later, they were finished.

We decide to stay at River Bend RV resort (very nice place....they are part of Passport America, so we got for 1/2 price...they also have a hotel here!).   We want to make sure batteries get charged before we move over to Kat & Steve's place.   Got to our spot and tried to lower the jack, but low and behold, they did not work.   Have saying a few choice words, called Eric, he said he'd be right over.   He came within 10 min, apparently are batteries are shot and we'll need to replace them tomorrow.  We were hoping that once they replaced the relay switch, that they'd recharge.   Guess not!   Hopefully tomorrow, the battery place can give them a shock and make them work....sometimes this happens I guess.   Would save us about $500.
