Ocean Shores, WA 2015

July 17, 2015

Family came over around 8, fed them pancakes and bacon.   We visited for about 1 1/2 hrs and then it was time for them to head home.   They have about a 3 hr drive, if there is no traffic.   We left at 10 and drove to Hoodsport, WA, where we'll spend next 4 days at Dow Creek RV Resort.  It's very wooded but we have a great spot with lots of shade.   Good, as it's supposed to be in 90's this weekend.

Got settled in and then went to the local realtors office, we want to look at bare lots near the golf course.   Obtained a list, so went for a drive to find them.  Saw two that we liked, we'll have to obtain more information before we decide if we'll do anything.

Caught up with the group (Carl, Bettie, Brian & Dorothy) just long enough to say Hi, then they were headed to a party.   We went home and I went for a walk around the RV Park.   Great park with huge spots that we are staying in.   Would love to bring the family here.

I picked Rog & Lita up at 7:30, so we could go play our golf game.    Bobby stayed home and cleaned windows, he's disappointed he can't play and didn't want to have the temptation to try.   Winnie and Tempest, stayed home and read.     We only played 9 holes, but had a great time.   I did not play well and in fact, Rog beat me by 2 strokes.    Yes, pissed me off!!!!   Lita played my caddie, plus we let her hit a few balls, think she had a good time.

Met the rest of the family back at the coach, where we had an early lunch and then the girls went to play foosball with Uncle Bob and Rog.   Once they were finished, we left and headed to Kalaloch, WA to find the tree of life.    We found it!!!   It's very unique in that the roots are totally exposed.   How it survies on the few that are in dirt, is beyond me.

We also drove up to the largest cedar tree in the Olympic National Forest.  It was really cool, looks like something out of a Harry Potter movie.

Next we drove back to Quinault Lake to have some ice cream and see the lake.   Ice cream was just OK but lake was beautiful.  

Got back around 5:30, so we started preparing the prime rib for dinner while Rog took the girls to the pool.    They love swimming and playing on the water slide.   After dinner, we watched a movie and then they went home.   Long, wonderful day.

I met Rog & Lita at 6 AM, while the others stayed in bed.   Lazy bones!!!   We went to a beach about 3 miles north of where Rog is staying.   Drove out onto the beach and then went looking for sand dollars.   We found lots, even lots of live ones, which we put back into the ocean.    Had a great time search for the sand dollars, looking for shells, etc.   On our way back to the truck, even saw a bald eagle snatch something from the beach.

Got back to Rog's place around 9, then we headed to our place to have breakfast.   Bobby made pancakes and sausage.   It's time to head to the beach, so we drive into Ocean Shores .   Found a place to park the car, where we can fly our kites, walk on the beach and just relax.    Once we were tired with this, we drove out to the jetty, where along the way, we saw many deer.   Even saw the little ones, they are so adorable.  

Next stop was the museum, we looked at the various displays, played with shells, etc.   It's a small place but has lots for you to see.

We are starving, so we head into town to grab a bite.  We ate at Bennett's, it was not that great but filling.   The fish & Chips & Shrimp were greasy and to much batter.   My clam chowder tasted more like celery than anything.   Once we finished with lunch, we did a little window shopping in the shops.   Did not buy one thing!



The girls wanted to ride go carts, so off we went to ride them.   All of us but Winnie rode them.  I'm telling you, I drove to my best ability and Bobby STILL passed me....argh!!!!   However, Rog, didn't...yeah!!!

We are tired from walking and playing, so we head to our coach.   Girls want to swim, so I go with them to the pool.    We have a great time sliding down the slide.   Rog & Bob played mini golf, while Winnie read a book.   About 5 I went home to make dinner, made chicken enchiladas.   Thought I made way to many, I forgot how teenager eat.   Only a small container left.

Today we met with Dr. Gambee to determine how Bobby is doing.   Dr. gave him a good report, in that he's healing and doing well, BUT, he can't play golf for another 3 months!!!!   Very disappointing for Bobby.   Also he wants to see him again in a month, which means we'll be returning to Portland instead of heading to Canada. 

Got back to the coach around 9:40 and headed to Ocean Shores, WA to catch up with my brother and his family.   It was sooooo good to see them.   They arrived about an hr. before us, an had scoped out the beach, so once we arrived, they came over (they were in a park model at Copalis Beach RV) to our place, which was Ocean Breeze RV.    Made them lunch, hotdogs and chips, then we headed to their park model, as they couldn't check-in until I signed the rental agreement, since I made the reservations.

Once that was taken care, we walked to Copalis Beach and played in the sand and walked on the beach.   By this time, it was around 5, so we headed back to our place, where the girls played in the pool, while we got ready to cook Hamburgers.   After dinner, we visited some more and then the family headed home, as we are getting up early to look for sand dollars.
