Arlington, WA 2015

July 27, 2015

Last day with the family.  Spent morning trying to get reservations at a RV park near Kent, WA and the Elks in Tacoma.   Elks have sold their property and moved, no longer have RV parking.

Around 1, we went to Winnie's, did our laundry, so nice to have availability to use her machine!   Much better than a Laundromat!

Tempest and Lita created painted tennis shoes....so very cute!!!   I worked on my new golf parade outfit.   Hope it turns out like I have envisioned!    Rog got home around 5:30 and cooked Salmon for dinner, it was some he caught earlier this month.   It was delicious.

Taylor and Kate came out around 6:30, Kate is helping them with their computer.    While Kate was working on the computer, Taylor put the new Sherlock Holmes show on and we watched the first episode.   It was interesting.

Said our goodbyes and left around 11.

Today we drove out to Sabrina & Darren's place in Duvall to celebrate her birthday.   This is also the site of their new home.   Once it's completed, it will be huge and beautiful, as it's set on 6 acres with tons of trees all around.   Three stores, that's been designed by the two of them.   It will be interesting to see the finalized project, so we must come back!!!

After having a late lunch of shish kabobs and venison, we headed back to Rog & Winnie.   Tempest & Lita came back with us, Winnie will take them back to on Thursday, when she has to babysit them plus Aurora, as Darren is taking Sabrina to see Wicked (her birthday present).

Once we got back to Rog's house, Taylor and  Kate came over (Taylor is their oldest grandson).   He's now 22 and works at Fred Meyers near Everett, WA.    It was fun catching up with them.

Headed home around 10, other great day with family

NFC plant, Marysville, WA
It's rain again so our plans are changing.  Roger is cooking breakfast, tried his venison sausage, plus eggs and pancakes.  The sausage was spicy but good.

NFC plant, Stanwood, WA
After breakfast, we headed to his egg plant to get a tour, he works for National Foods (NFC).   It was very interesting to learn about the egg business.   At their plant in Marysville, all they do is process liquid eggs.   For those that don't know, they take eggs, break them, and then process them into cartons, 55 gallon drums, 1 gallon buckets, etc.   Depending on what the customer wants, they make just egg whites, just yolks, eggs with salt, eggs with sugar or just whole eggs.  It's amazing what they make.

Next we headed to his plant in Stanwood, WA, where they process dozens of eggs.   In their chicken barns at this facility, they house 1 million chickens!  Yes, 1 million.   This plant runs 8 hrs a day, 7 days a week.   That's just one of their plants!!!

Stanwood, WA
They process eggs for companies like Safeway, Kroger Stores, Haggen, many restaurants like Denny's, plus numerous local companies.

Stanwood, WA
Since we were in Stanwood, we decided to go see the Old Trailer show.  It was on main street.  The trailers were mostly from the 50's and 60's.  They look like the I Love Lucy trailers....very cute!   We also looked thru several of the shops.

After this, we headed to Mt. Vernon, where we had lunch and looked at several RV stores.   My brother is looking for a new trailer, they want to down size, since they'll be retiring in Jan.

Got home around 5, after stopping for groceries.  Long, fun day!

July 24, 2015

It's raining, so we go to the casino and have breakfast.  We are lazy so nothing exciting planned.   Get back to the motorhome and decide to run into Marysville to got look in a few stores for a grill we want for the BBQ.   Don't find what we want so head back home.

I spend the afternoon, working on transferring pics from our albums we picked up at my brothers, while Bobby watches TV.

Around 5, we headed to Parasio (Mexican restaurant) to have dinner with Rog & Winnie.   Stopped and picked up the movie Wild Horses to watch.   It was nothing to writing home about....very slow.

Anacortes, WA behind us
Old ship in Anacortes
Rog and Winnie picked us up at 7, then we went for a drive to La Conner & Anacortes.   It's been 20+ yrs since we've been in Anacortes.    Rog took us to Cap Sante Point and Mt. Erie, where we had spectacular views of the sound, San Juan Islands and Anacortes.   Stopped a few stores and ate some ice cream on the way home.

They dropped us off at the coach, we agreed to meet at their place at 3, as our nieces would be there to have dinner with us.

We arrived at 3 and they arrived shortly after we did.  We have not seen Sabrina (our niece) for 4-5 years, it was wonderful to visit with her.  She now has a daughter, Aurora.   So cute.

Rog & Winnie, Anacortes is behind them
Sabrina & Lita at the river
Our two older great nieces (Rog & Winnie's granddaughters by their son), wanted to go swimming, so we headed to the river (on my brothers property).   It was WAY to cold for me, so I just watched them play and talked to my niece.  They loved it.

Had dinner and visited some more.   It was about 8 when they left and we agreed to come see Sabrina's house that they are building on Sunday.   We left around 9 and headed home.   Once we arrived, we took a walk, as all we had done was sit in the car.

We met Bob & Coco for breakfast at the casino at 9.  It was so lovely to see them!   It's always amazing where you run into friends.

Around 11 we headed to the outlet mall in Marysville, I bought a few things.   We then went to the Cabela's store and Costco, where we had lunch.

Next stop was Winnie's, we visited with her until my brother arrived around 5:30.   Had a delicious dinner of pork chops that Winnie cooked and then we went to the river for a walk, love walking along the river.   So peaceful.   When we got back to the house, we saw a baby deer, it was sooooo cute, still had it's spots.   We usually see deer at their property every evening.

We left Hoodsport around 8:00 AM and headed North to Port Townsend, arriving around 9:40.   It rained all the way, this area really needs it so won't complain.  Checked in and got in line, thinking we'd catch the 11 AM ferry, as that's what our reservation was for, but we got onto the 10 AM ferry, as they had room.   It's very cold, only 57 degrees, believe me, I'm freezing.   Did not bring enough clothes.

Once we disembarked, we headed N or hwy 20 towards Anacortes.   We arrived at Angel of the Winds Casino, where we'll spend the next 7 days.  My brother lives about 5 miles from here, making this very convenient for us.   Only bad thing, we only have electricity, but we'll make do.

While I was trying to figure out where to check into the RV Park this afternoon, Coco Giacolino stopped by.  Small world, isn't it!  Apparently Bob is working in Bellevue, which is 60 miles south of here.   Long drive in this miserable traffic!!!   We hope to be able to get together for dinner before they leave.

About 1 PM, we decide to go have lunch, ate at Hong Kong Restaurant in Arlington.  Excellent Chinese food.   Then we did a little looking in a flea market, before heading to my brothers.

Winnie was home, so we visited until my brother got off work, plus Bobby did our landry.   Had dinner, then Rog and I went for a walk down by the river.   It's so low.

Got home around 9:15 and settled in for the evening.
